Chris Hemsworth’s Scariest Horror Movie Is Arriving on HBO Max Very Soon

One of Chris Hemsworth‘s most acclaimed horror films will soon be available to stream on HBO Max. The 2012 feature is scheduled to join the platform next month, giving subscribers another opportunity to watch the critically acclaimed horror thriller. The upcoming addition expands HBO Max’s horror catalog with one of the genre’s most popular releases.

Chris Hemsworth’s acclaimed horror film The Cabin in the Woods is set to reach a wider streaming audience next month. According to ScreenRant, the 2012 horror movie will be added to HBO Max on August 30, 2026, giving subscribers another opportunity to watch the film. 

Directed by Drew Goddard, The Cabin in the Woods was released in the United States on April 13, 2012. The film begins as five college friends leave the city for a weekend at an isolated cabin, hoping for a quiet getaway. 

Their trip takes a deadly turn after they unknowingly trigger a series of terrifying events hidden beneath the property’s ordinary appearance. As mysterious threats begin claiming victims, the group gradually realizes that their ordeal is part of a much larger operation. 

The cast includes Kristen Connolly as Dana Polk, Chris Hemsworth as Curt Vaughan, Anna Hutchison as Jules Louden, Fran Kranz as Marty Mikalski, Jesse Williams as Holden McCrea, and Richard Jenkins as Gary Sitterson, among others.

The film received widespread critical acclaim upon release. It holds a 92 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 290 reviews. Meanwhile, its audience score stands at 74 percent. TheIndependentCritic.com reported, “The cast is far stronger than one usually finds in this type of film.”

The Cabin in the Woods also performed well commercially, earning approximately $69.9 million worldwide. According to Box Office Mojo, the film generated more than $42 million domestically and over $27 million from international markets.
