Tom Hanks & Paul Bettany’s Epic 66-Million-Year Movie Arrives on Hulu Today

Tom Hanks and Paul Bettany‘s drama film is finally streaming on Hulu. Fans can stream Here on the streaming platform beginning July 30.

The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, who also wrote the screenplay along with Eric Roth. The film stars Hanks and Bettany in a story spanning roughly 66 million years. The ensemble cast also includes Robin Wright, Kelly Reilly, Michelle Dockery, Gwilym Lee, Ophelia Lovibond, David Fynn, and Leslie Zemeckis.

The drama was released in theaters on November 15, 2024. However, it did not perform well during its theatrical run. It was produced on an estimated budget of $45–$50 million, but grossed approximately $16 million worldwide.

As of now, the movie sits with a 35% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. It has gained a slightly higher Popcornmeter score of 59%. Now, the film has a chance to reach a wider audience through its Hulu debut.

The story is based on the 1989 graphic novel of the same name by American illustrator Richard McGuire. It first appeared as a six-page comic strip, which was later expanded in 2014.

The graphic novel presents the history of a single location across different periods in time. The story spans across centuries, from the primordial past to years into the future, on the same land. However, the film primarily focuses on multiple generations of the Young family. The filmmakers used de-aging technology to make the lead actors appear younger in several scenes.

This movie reunites Zemeckis and Roth with the leads, Hanks and Wright. The latter pair previously shared the screen in Forrest Gump, which was also helmed by the Here director and writer.
