Spider-Man 4 Producer Reacts to Tom Holland & Zendaya Marriage’s After Dating Objections
A Spider-Man: Brand New Day producer has offered their thoughts on Tom Holland and Zendaya’s relationship. Amy Pascal has been involved in producing and distributing all live-action Spider-Man features. She spoke about the leading duo’s offscreen romance. Pascal had previously revealed that she had told all previous Spider-Man duos to avoid dating in real life.
Speaking with Variety, Sony Pictures producer Amy Pascal recalled warning Tom Holland and Zendaya not to date. “I say this to all of them, and no one ever listens to me,” Pascal said. However, she admitted that Holland and Zendaya’s romance resulting in marriage was a happy outcome. “I think they’re happy right now,” she added.
Tom Holland and Zendaya weren’t the only Spider-Man couple to ignore the producer’s advice
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were advised the same by Pascal when they were making The Amazing Spider-Man films. Ignoring her advice, Garfield and Stone started dating during the first film’s production and split following the release of the second. Similarly, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst also began dating each other during the making of the 2002 film. However, they split before 2004’s Spider-Man 2, according to director Sam Raimi.

Besides Spider-Man, other superhero franchises have also seen similar developments happen with their cast. Jennifer Lawrence began dating Nicholas Hoult during the production of X-Men: First Class, in which their characters also developed romantic feelings for each other. On the other side, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively dated each other while filming Green Lantern, eventually ending up marrying each other. The same story goes for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner following the production of Daredevil, with the couple splitting years later.
Tom Holland and Zendaya will reunite onscreen once again in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, releasing on July 31, 2026. The pair also starred in The Odyssey, though they did not share any scenes together.
