Jennifer Aniston & Peter Dinklage Cast in Olivia Wilde’s Naughty Movie, Release Date Set
Following her success with The Invite, Olivia Wilde is back for another directorial feature film. Universal Pictures has officially greenlit her new holiday comedy, Naughty, starring Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage. The studio has also scheduled the film for a theatrical release on November 5, 2027.
According to Deadline, Naughty tells the story of Mallory, a mother caught in a custody battle with her husband over their son. Aniston plays Mallory, whose last hope of winning custody of her son is to track down Santa Claus, played by Dinklage, and convince him to testify on her behalf at her divorce hearing.
The screenplay comes from Jimmy Warden, who originally wrote the story as a spec script before Universal acquired it three years ago. Although Wilde directed The Invite first, reports say she always had Aniston and Dinklage in mind for the lead roles. After The Invite earned strong critics and became one of the prominent releases in 2026, Universal reportedly moved quickly to greenlight Naughty and secure the cast’s schedules.
LuckyChap will produce the film alongside Wilde and Warden. EVP Production Development Sara Scott and Director of Production Development Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for the studio.
Which other movies has Olivia Wilde directed?
Naughty continues Wilde’s directorial career behind the camera. She made her feature directorial debut with Booksmart in 2019, a coming-of-age comedy that earned widespread critical acclaim. That laid the foundation for her as a filmmaker.
Wilde later directed the 2022 psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling, starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. While the movie’s production had raised discussion about a few casting issues before release, it showcased Wilde’s take on projects outside the comedy genre.
Wilde’s most recent film, The Invite, is one of the best-reviewed films of 2026. As of writing, the film currently holds a 97% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and has earned more than $28 million worldwide. The movie is yet to make its debut in other international markets.
Meanwhile, Aniston makes her return to the comedy genre after her popular role in Friends, We’re the Millers, and more. Further, Peter Dinklage has good projects under his name, including Wicked, American Dreamer, Dexter: Resurrection, and Alien: Earth. With two stars featuring in Wilde’s growing directorial career, Naughty would become one of Universal’s biggest holiday releases when it arrives next year.
