War Machines Cast: Which Stars Are Confirmed & Not Returning for Alan Ritchson Sci-Fi Movie

Following the streaming success of War Machine, Netflix has announced the development of its follow-up sequel, titled War Machines. Director Patrick Hughes is expected to return and will also co-write the screenplay with James Beaufort. So far, there is actually only one returning cast member confirmed for the War Machines cast.

Confirmed War Machines cast

Reacher star Alan Ritchson is officially reprising his role as 81, who, at the end of the first installment, was finally accepted into the 75th Ranger Regiment. Further details about War Machines’ plot and new characters are still under wraps. However, based on how the first movie ended, it seems like Ritchson’s character will become one of the leaders for their attack operation against the alien machines.

Ritchson also confirmed his return through an Instagram post, expressing his gratitude to the people who supported the first movie. He promises fans that the War Machine franchise is “just getting started.”

“Top 10 films of all time on Netflix is crazy. But this was just the appetizer. Wild times ahead. We’re just getting started,” he wrote.

Unconfirmed War Machines cast

Even though Netflix has yet to announce which cast members would be joining Ritchson in the sequel, Dennis Quaid, Esai Morales, and Stephan James are expected to reprise their respective roles as Sheridan, Torres, and 7. Like 81, their characters also survived at the end of the film. James’ character 7 was last seen by the audience suffering from injuries. If the Golden Globe nominee decided not to come back for the sequel, the writing team could still kill his character off-screen since we didn’t get a clear answer about his fate.

As for the rest of the first movie’s cast, including Jai Courtney, Keiynan Lonsdale, Alex King, Daniel Webber, and more, they won’t be able to return for War Machines since their characters had already died in the first movie. It seems like the new sequel would feature 81 leading a new squad of Rangers. However, there’s still a possibility that the creative team may find a way to bring back Courtney’s character through flashback scenes because of his importance to Ritchson’s character.
