Miles Teller Reunites With Top Gun: Maverick Stars in a Surprising Battlefield 6 Crossover

Miles Teller is reprising his Top Gun: Maverick role alongside other stars from the film in Battlefield 6. Electronic Arts is developing the upcoming crossover in partnership with Paramount Games Studio. The team-up will be a focus of Battlefield’s upcoming update.

What do we know about the Top Gun: Maverick and Battlefield 6 crossover?

EA has revealed the first look at the new content coming to Battlefield 6 Season 4 and Battlefield RedSec. The new update will bring naval warfare to the game and its battle-royale counterpart. Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman, and Chris Parnell will also voice their respective Top Gun: Maverick characters as they appear in it.

“It’s a huge honor to appear in a long-running franchise like Battlefield with its millions of fans, and talented people working on it,” said Miles Teller. “And with Top Gun, it’s like two titans meeting.”

“Battlefield is very intense, whether you’re in the sky or on the ground or fighting in the sea,” said Lewis Pullman. “In that way, it’s a perfect pairing with Top Gun.”

Here are the release dates for Battlefield Season 4’s three phases:

  • Phase 1 – Pacific Front, releasing July 21, 2026
  • Phase 2 – Top Gun, releasing August 18, 2026
  • Phase 3 – Tidal Strike, releasing September 15, 2026

Battlefield Season 4 Phase 1 will begin with the addition of Tsuru Reef, the game’s biggest map yet. The new map features a vast battleground spanning land, sea, and air, complete with naval aircraft carriers. It will also include the game’s new Dynamic Wave System. As the name suggests, the system allows waves to affect vehicle movement, gunfire, line of sight, and more.

Phase 2 brings the Top Gun crossover and the addition of the classic Wake Island map. As a part of the crossover, the game will add the F-18/Super Hornet and iconic F-14 Tomcat, along with two new game modes. Phase 3 will include a “collection event,” rewarding players who complete naval-based contracts.

The new game modes are Carrier Strike and a new Gauntlet mission for Battlefield RedSec. The former mode will pit players against one another across land, sea, and air as they compete to destroy an enemy aircraft carrier. The Gauntlet is a jets-only mission set on Tsuru Reef. The new season will also bring quality-of-life updates like a spectator mode and portal custom lobby.

“When Battlefield 6 launched, it had a strong core of content that we’ve grown over time, using feedback from the community to make the game even better,” says Byron Beede, General Manager of Battlefield. “With the addition of Naval Warfare, our Top Gun collaboration, our largest map, and so much more, Season 4 is our biggest update yet and is the perfect opportunity for players old and new to dive in.”

Earlier this year, it was revealed that a Battlefield movie is being developed with Michael B. Jordan set to produce and potentially star in it.

Battlefield 6 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Battlefield RedSec is available to play for free on the same platforms.
