With the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day just around the corner, promotions for the movie have already begun. During an interview with Letterboxd, the main cast reflected on the previous three films in the franchise while reacting to fan reviews.
In the interview, Zendaya revealed that Spider-Man: Homecoming is her favorite film in the trilogy. She said, “Homecoming is my favorite of the first trilogy ’cause it does have that really— It is my comfort movie. It’s so cozy. It just feels, I don’t know. It feels good every time I watch it.”
Holland and Jacob Batalon also agreed with her assessment of the film. Holland added, “And I think of Superhero movies, there isn’t one that’s like Homecoming. It kind of is a unique movie.” Additionally, Batalon recalled the “hoodie Spider-Man” scene in the film and called it a “classic.”
The discussion began when a reviewer, Dawson Joyce, called the first movie of the franchise a “witty, charming, John Hughes-esque coming-of-age teen comedy and a colorful, well-constructed, ridiculously entertaining superhero action film that’s more down-to-earth and character-driven.” In response, Holland simply said, “Credit to Jon Watts.”
Watts directed Homecoming, whose success led to Far From Home and No Way Home. Directorial duties for the latest installment, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, have been taken over by Destin Daniel Cretton.
The fourth Spider-Man film follows Peter Parker after the events of No Way Home, as he embarks on a new chapter in a world that no longer remembers him. He fights crime in a world that has forgotten his identity while facing new villains.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
