Mills accidentally crashes on an unknown planet inhabited by deadly creatures. As he decides to protect a young survivor, played by Ariana Greenblatt, the movie becomes increasingly intense. The mystery of the unknown planet is also one of the thrilling aspects of the movie.

While reviewers praised the individual performances, particularly by Adam Driver, and the visual spectacle that creates an intense prehistoric era, many argued that the movie sacrifices plausibility.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 35% critics’ score and a 64% audience score. On IMDb, it holds a rating of 5.4/10, with critics maintaining a mixed response. Decider summed it up by writing, “Nothing really sinks its teeth in deep enough to draw blood, metaphorically speaking, of course.” Meanwhile, Variety‘s Todd Gilchrist noted, “Anchored by another in a series of committed performances from Adam Driver and an ensemble of suitably menacing prehistoric beasts that chase him for just over 90 minutes, Beck and Woods’ adventure delivers requisite thrills even if its creativity seems stuck in the distant cinematic past.”

Even though Sam Raimi onboarded Scott Beck and Bryan Woods to write the movie, critics argue they failed to recapture the magic of their work on A Quiet Place.

Alongside Driver as Mills, other cast members include Ariana Greenblatt, Chloe Coleman, Nika King, and Brian Dare.
