Mutiny Trailer Puts Jason Statham in a Deadly Trap
Jason Statham is caught in a deadly conspiracy aboard a cargo ship in the Mutiny trailer. The Jean-François Richet-directed film marks Statham’s second big-screen release of the year following January’s Shelter.
The official synopsis reads, “In Mutiny, after witnessing his billionaire boss’s murder and being framed for the crime, Cole Reed boards a cargo ship on a one-man crusade to avenge his boss’ death, only to discover an international conspiracy.”

What happens in the Mutiny trailer?
The Mutiny trailer begins with Cole Reed (Statham) boarding a cargo ship after eliminating several men attempting to gun him down. Once on board, he discovers that several shipping containers are holding victims of a human trafficking ring. Reed then sets out to rescue the captives, leading to a series of brutal confrontations.
Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders) also appears aboard the ship, though it’s unclear whether her character is an ally or part of the trafficking ring. The trailer also features Muhammad Ali’s legendary 1974 pre-fight speech before his “Rumble in the Jungle” bout against George Foreman, intercut with brutal, R-rated hand-to-hand combat in the cargo ship’s narrow corridors. Reed uses his surroundings to his advantage, wielding improvised weapons such as heavy shipping locks and chains against heavily armed traffickers.
Mutiny is the ninth film directed by Jean-François Richet, who is making his return to the big screen after 2023’s action thriller. Apart from Statham and Wallis, the star cast of the upcoming film includes Jason Wong, Roland Møller, Arnas Fedaravicius, and Adrian Lester.
Lindsay Michel and J. P. Davis have written the script for the film. Alongside Statham (for Punch Palace Productions), Marc Butan (for MadRiver Pictures) is serving as one of the two producers.
With a reported runtime of 95 minutes, Mutiny will release in theaters on August 21, 2026.
