Kevin Feige confirms Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Japan release has one big exclusive
Marvel Studios has revealed a special addition that will be exclusive to the Japanese release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In a newly released video, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the film’s Japanese dubbed version will feature an original end credits song titled “Brand New,” performed by the popular Japanese rock band Mrs. Green Apple. The exclusive track will not be included in the film’s releases in other territories.
During the announcement, Feige praised the band, describing Mrs. Green Apple as his new “favorite band” after spending time with the band members in both Los Angeles and Tokyo. He also said the group’s admiration for Spider-Man made them a natural choice to contribute music for the film’s Japanese release.
According to Sony Pictures Japan, the song was written by the band’s lead member, Motoki Omori (via The Direct).
Japan will also receive a different theatrical rollout than several other international markets. Although territories including the Philippines and the United Kingdom are scheduled to begin screening the film on July 29, Japanese audiences will have to wait until July 31, when the film opens alongside the United States.
In addition, Sony Pictures Japan confirmed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in IMAX across the country. The sequel will see Tom Holland reprise his role as the titular hero alongside Zendaya and Sadie Sink in her MCU debut.
