Best DCU Movies and TV Shows Ranked, Including 2026’s Supergirl

We’ve ranked DC Studios’ DC Universe movies and TV shows. These are all part of James Gunn‘s ongoing Chapter One: Gods and Monsters phase for the DCU. The rankings are based on each project’s Metascore on Metacritic. This list also includes Milly Alcock’s live-action Supergirl movie, which is now playing in theaters worldwide.

All DCU movies and TV shows ranked by Metacritic score

4) Supergirl (2026) – 50%

Taking the last spot on the list is 2026’s live-action Supergirl film. It is led by House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, which she first played at the end of 2025’s Superman. She is also joined by Jason Momoa’s Lobo and David Corenswet’s Clark Kent/Superman. So far, the sci-fi epic movie has received a 50% Metascore on Metacritic. Although many critics are praising Alcock’s performance, others weren’t impressed with the movie’s messy script, forgettable villain, and inconsistencies with its tone and themes.

3) Superman (2025) – 68%

Claiming the third spot is 2025’s Superman, which received a generally favorable 68% rating on Metacritic. The film was written and directed by Gunn as his first DCU movie after becoming DC Studios co-CEO. The ensemble cast was led by David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, officially succeeding Henry Cavill’s DCEU version. Critics and fans loved Corenswet’s DCU debut, praising him for effectively bringing warmth and charm to the beloved character. Many critics also commended Gunn for delivering a refreshing and optimistic take on the hero, which was absent from previous iterations.

2) Creature Commandos Season 1(2024) – 74%

Ranking second is HBO Max’s 2024 adult-animated series Creature Commandos, which was written and created by Gunn. Following its debut, the 7-episode first season received a 74% Metascore on Metacritic. It was widely praised for giving a proper spotlight to lesser-known DC comic book characters, including The Bride and Nina Mazursky. Many critics also commended the show for effectively bringing heart and emotional depth to its violent animation. Its voice cast, including Indira Varma, Frank Grillo, David Harbour, Alan Tudyk, and more, was also praised for their incredible work. The show has already been renewed for a second season.

1) Peacemaker Season 2 (2025) – 78%

2025’s Peacemaker Season 2 is currently the DCU’s highest-rated entry to date. Following its HBO Max return, the John Cena-led show received a generally favorable rating of 78% on Metacritic. Season 2 takes place after the events of Superman, officially retconning its previous connection to the DCEU. Many critics praised Gunn for his ability to make flawed characters relatable and appealing to the audience. The latest installment was also commended for masterfully blending heart and comedy with the show’s out-of-this-world concept. Cena’s leading performance was also acknowledged by critics and fans, who described him as the show’s emotional anchor.
