Harry Potter’s Most Valuable Prop Will Surprise Fans Ahead of HBO Max TV Show

Ahead of the Harry Potter TV show, a new study revealed the franchise’s most valuable props. One iconic Wizarding World prop fetched more than six figures at auction.

The Harry Potter franchise has been around since 1997, and since then, we have been introduced to many aspects of the wizarding world, including its unusual props. Using data from Propstore, a new study ranked the most valuable Harry Potter props sold at auction. Propstore is one of the leading auction houses for film and television memorabilia.

According to this study, the Marauder’s Map was the highest-priced prop from the Harry Potter franchise. This iconic map sold for $324,112 on December 5, 2024. The map was first seen in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third installment of the movie series. It depicts a detailed design of Hogwarts School, and also includes a case.

However, although the Marauder’s Map was the most valuable prop, there are several other pieces of memorabilia from the Harry Potter movies that sold for six figures. Research from Stock Market Guides identified the 15 most expensive props from eight of the 8 Harry Potter movies.

The second most valuable prop was the Screen-Matched Platform 9¾ Sign, which sold for $138,600 on September 9, 2025. Then, the third most valuable prop, the Hero Wooden Wand, sold for $127,924 on November 25, 2024. The final, most valuable prop that sold for six figures was Harry Potter’s Distressed Costume with Glasses, which sold for $100,000 on July 19, 2023.

Some of the other memorabilia from the Harry Potter movies that sold within the range of $53,125 and $85,265 include the Hero Nimbus 2001 Broom, Dumbledore’s Hero Robe, Marauder’s Map Scene Special Effects Light-Up Hero Wand, Dumbledore’s Elder Wand, and Harry Potter’s Eyeglasses. The 15 most expensive Harry Potter props sold over the last 20 years totaled $1,502,513 at auction.
