New James Bond Casting Update Means 007 Major Announcement Could Be Coming Very Soon
A new update says the next James Bond actor announcement may happen soon. Daniel Craig was last seen portraying Agent 007 in 2021’s No Time To Die. Avid franchise fans have been waiting for the next actor to play the iconic character since then.
What is the new James Bond casting update?
A new Deadline report reveals that producers and director of the next James Bond, Denis Villeneuve, have begun informing candidates who made it to the next round of auditions, which is set to take place this summer. Additionally, it’s been confirmed that Villeneuve has been calling the candidates directly.
While a name is still not confirmed, several sources suggest that the next round of auditions will take place in August. This means an official casting announcement could happen in less than two months, provided the auditions go well, and a promising candidate emerges.
In recent months, various actors have emerged as potential candidates to play the next James Bond. Earlier this month, Callum Turner was asked about the role. “I know as much as you do — really, I know as much as you do,” he said while reacting to Amazon MGM Studios’ casting announcement. “I’ll tell you what’s so funny about the Bond thing: Even your best friends ask you, people text you that you haven’t spoken to for 10 years — and you know nothing!”

Apart from Turner, another popular actor who is speculated to play Agent 007 is Jacob Elordi. According to The Guardian reporter Marina Hyde, the former Euphoria star was said to be in pole position in the race to play James Bond. “I have to say — just the mere fact of me saying this means it won’t happen — but I’ve heard from a number of people that Jacob Elordi has kind of moved into pole position,” she said.
The next James Bond movie from Denis Villeneuve has yet to receive an official release date window.
