Watch This Al Pacino & Robert De Niro Masterpiece as It Leaves Free Streaming Soon

One of the most acclaimed crime films ever made will soon become unavailable on free streaming. Heat, starring Al Pacino, is scheduled to leave Plex in the coming days. Its exit also comes at a time when discussion surrounding Heat 2 is continuing to gain traction.

Heat is leaving Plex next month

The iconic crime movie Heat, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, is set to leave free streaming next month. According to Collider, the film will no longer be available on Plex beginning July 1, 2026.

Written and directed by Michael Mann, Heat premiered in theaters on December 15, 1995. The crime thriller remains one of the filmmaker’s most acclaimed films in the genre.

The film follows veteran thief Neil McCauley and his crew as they carry out a series of high-profile robberies across Los Angeles. After a job leaves behind crucial evidence, LAPD Lieutenant Vincent Hanna begins tracking the group, setting off a dangerous pursuit between the detective and the criminals. 

As McCauley prepares for another major score while considering retirement, Hanna becomes increasingly determined to stop him, leading both men toward a violent confrontation. Robert De Niro stars as McCauley, while Al Pacino portrays Hanna. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Val Kilmer as Chris Shiherlis, Jon Voight as Nate, Tom Sizemore as Michael Cheritto, and Diane Venora as Justine Hanna, among others.

Interest in the film and its legacy has remained strong over the decades since its release, with speculation about a sequel being produced persisting for years. The discussions gained fresh momentum earlier this year when Christian Bale said filming could begin soon. Earlier this year, the actor noted, “…I’ll be back in Chicago, I think, on Heat 2 soon.” 

Meanwhile, the first film has also consistently garnered strong praise from critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an 84 percent score from critics alongside a 94 percent audience rating.
