What is the release date for The Blair Witch Project movie reboot?

The studio shared a creepy video on Instagram confirming that its upcoming reboot of The Blair Witch Project has now been scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 24, 2027. The video also features the iconic horror franchise’s signature symbol, the stickman totem made of twigs and human hair.

Its theatrical release date will pit the film against an untitled DreamWorks animated movie. In addition, it will also be debuting in the same month as The Simpsons Movie 2 and The Conjuring: First Communion.

The Blair Witch Project will be directed by up-and-coming horror director Dylan Clark, who is also rewriting the screenplay. Further details about the movie’s plot and characters are still under wraps. The movie is executive-produced by the original 1999 movie’s filmmakers, Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick, and Gregg Hale, alongside original stars Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams.

The reboot is also produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and Roy Lee, alongside Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath for Divide/Conquer. Executive producers are Steven Schneider, Michael Clear, and Judson Scott, with Atomic Monster’s Alayna Glasthal overseeing for the company. Meanwhile, Scott O’Brien and Pavan Kalidindi have also been enlisted to oversee the project for Lionsgate.

The original film centered around a group of students making a documentary on the spooky folklore of Burkittsville, Maryland. Following its release, the movie garnered critical and commercial success, grossing around $248 million worldwide against a reported budget of less than $1 million.
