What do we see in the Shrek 5 trailer?

The Shrek 5 trailer opens with a narration about the duo’s first adventure before being interrupted by Donkey. Several shots showcase the film’s new animation style with more realistic characters. Donkey eagerly anticipates a new adventure as fans get their first glimpse of new additions to the franchise, including Shrek and Fiona’s teenage kids. The footage also features a “caked-up” Gingy the Gingerbread Man, a nod to the Pied Piper, a parody of Olaf from Frozen, and other quick-cut shots. The trailer closes with the lovable group ending up in prison, where Donkey sings ‘Baby Come Back’ and ‘Roxanne’, much to Shrek’s dismay.

The upcoming film has added Zendaya, Marcello Hernandez, and Skylar Gisondo to play Shrek’s children, Felicia, Fergus, and Farkle, respectively. It also stars Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz reprising their roles as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona.

While Shrek 5 is coming next year, actor Mike Myers has already started teasing Shrek 6. The franchise will also expand with a Donkey spin-off following Shrek 5. Plot details for Shrek 5 are being kept under wraps. The upcoming film will be the first in the franchise in over 17 years, following 2010’s Shrek Forever After.

Shrek 5 is directed by Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn, with Brad Ableson co-directing the feature. Vernon also plays Gingy in the film. Both Vernon and Dohrn have worked on previous Shrek films across different departments. The film is produced by Gina Shay and Chris Meledandri.

Shrek 5 will be released in theaters on June 30, 2027.
