Gone Girl to stream on Netflix next month
Ben Affleck’s chilling thriller Gone Girl is set to arrive on Netflix next month. Per What’s on Netflix, the 2014 mystery drama will be available to stream starting July 1, 2026.
Released in October 2014, Gone Girl was directed by David Fincher. The screenplay is by Gillian Flynn, who adapted her own bestselling 2012 novel. The film follows Nick Dunne, a Missouri resident whose life is thrown into chaos when his wife, Amy, disappears on the day of their fifth wedding anniversary.
The missing-person investigation soon attracts intense national attention. It then places Nick under a microscope as authorities, journalists, and the public attempt to determine what happened. As scrutiny surrounding the case grows, questions begin to surface about the Dunnes’ marriage, as well as the image they had presented to the outside world. The investigation also uncovers a series of contradictions that fuel speculation about Nick’s involvement.
The feature stars Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne and Rosamund Pike as Amy Dunne. The supporting cast includes Neil Patrick Harris as Desi Collings, Tyler Perry as Tanner Bolt, Carrie Coon as Margo “Go” Dunne, and Kim Dickens as Detective Rhonda Boney, among others.
Upon release, the film received strong reviews from critics and audiences alike. It currently holds an 88% critics’ score and an 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. First Post reported, “For all his misogyny, Fincher is a masterful storyteller. Gone Girl is two and a half hours long, tense, bloody and likely to leave you feeling positively scared of both marriage and women.”
