What happens in the New Toy Story trailer?

The video features a group of mismatched talking toys who embark on a dangerous backyard adventure in hopes of rescuing one of their own. It also highlights how the older toys will deal with the arrival of a brand-new toy in the form of an advanced robot named Pixel, who was the reason why the Princess Doll was accidentally thrown over the fence.

The New Toy Story movie serves as the studio’s own spoof of Pixar’s Toy Story franchise. The voice cast includes Tom Arnold (Fubar, True Lies), D.C. Douglas (Resident Evil 5), and Diamond Marie Buckley. The movie is directed by Alex Heerman and Monroe Robertson, with Heerman writing the script. It is executive-produced by David Rimawi, with David Michael Latt serving as a producer.

The movie hails from The Asylum, which is no stranger to producing animated spoof movies such as 2016’s Izzie’s Way Home and 2020’s Homeward. The production company is also best known for hit mockbusters like the Sharknado movies, Z Nation, Ape vs. Monster, Morgan: Killer Doll, Evil Nun, and more. It’s also the studio behind Netflix’s hit apocalyptic thriller series Black Summer, which lasted for two seasons from 2019 to 2021.
