Meryl Streep’s $372M Hit Is Dominating on Disney+ After Its Box Office Run
Pixar’s recent animated blockbuster featuring the voice of Meryl Streep has emerged as a hit on Disney+. This success isn’t just in the movie category, as it is also outperforming every series on the platform.
Hoppers is already winning on Disney+ after box office success
Hoppers is currently leading Disney+’s Top 10 Movies and Top 10 Overall lists, per FlixPatrol’s data for June 8, 2026. It premiered on the platform on June 3 and immediately claimed the top spot in over 50 countries. With that, it has taken over every other title on the platform.
Meanwhile, the Top 10 Movies list reports that The Punisher: One Last Kill is at #2, Spider-Man: No Way Home at #3, Toy Story 4 at #4, and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl at #5.
Hoppers was directed by Daniel Chong, who wrote the story and screenplay with Jesse Andrews. Nicole Paradis Grindle served as the producer. She is known for producing other Pixar titles such as Toy Story 3, Monsters University, and Incredibles 2.
The story centers on Mabel, a nature-loving, strong-headed college student. She has one mission: save the local wildlife habitat from city expansion. During one of her attempts to restore wildlife, Mabel learns that a group of teachers from her college has created a machine capable of transferring human consciousness into a robot animal. When she gets the chance to transfer her mind into a robotic beaver, she jumps at it. However, her ambition accidentally sparks a conflict between the wildlife and the city mayor.
In an interview with D23, Chong said that he got the idea for the story from nature documentaries. “One of the things that inspired me a lot was these nature documentaries where they put robots into the animal world, and they try to get them to fit in,” he said. It felt like it was ripe for comedy, this idea of how humans try so hard to fit into the animal world and the weird things that happen through that.”
Hoppers features an impressive voice cast that includes Meryl Streep, Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm, Kathy Najimy, Dave Franco, and Eduardo Franco, among others.
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures released the movie in theaters on March 6, 2026. Made on a reported budget of $150 million, it went on to earn $372 million globally. Critically, Hoppers currently hold a critics’ score of 94% and a user score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
