Avengers: Doomsday ‘Is Looking Awesome,’ Star Gives Filming Update Amid Reshoots

An Avengers: Doomsday star has offered a positive update about the film amidst reshoots. They recently expressed excitement about the film, dropping in theaters later this year.

Wyatt Russell on the current status of Avengers: Doomsday

Wyatt Russell, who reprises his role as John Walker a.k.a. U.S. Agent in Avengers: Doomsday, revealed that much of the work on the movie was done.

While speaking with Deadline at the UK premiere of his new movie, Disclosure Day, the actor said that they have completed most of the filming. “It’s looking awesome from what I’m able to glean,” he added. Russell further stated that while he had not “seen much,” he has seen the trailers.

The Monarch: Legacy of Monsters star fondly recalled his time making the movie. “Just doing it was a blast,” he shared before praising Sebastian Stan and David Harbour’s performances. He continued, “We worked a lot, you know…on set with everybody. Florence [Pugh] being on set with them. And all the other people you could be on set with. It’s a cool place to be.” He concluded, “I’ve had a blast, and I’m happy to get to be able to see it.”

Avengers: Doomsday’s directors, The Russo Brothers, have teased that the film will be a reset-of-sorts storywise. While speaking at SXSW London, Joe Russo said it would return to “Phase Zero.” He elaborated, “This is starting over from scratch. We want to make sure everybody feels like this isn’t leaning on anything from the past” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

The film premieres on December 18, 2026, while its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, arrives on December 17, 2027. In addition to directing both films, the Russos co-produce through their production banner, AGBO. Meanwhile, Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely co-wrote the screenplay for Doomsday.

Returning MCU actors in the film in addition to Russell, Stan, Harbour, and Pugh include Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta, and Pedro Pascal, among others.
