Man of Tomorrow: Watch Superman Obliterate Lex Luthor in New Set Video

Superman is making Lex Luthor pay for his actions in Man of Tomorrow. A new set video from James Gunn‘s anticipated sequel to last year’s DCU blockbuster has recently surfaced online.

What do we see in the Man of Tomorrow set video?

DCU Brief account, which keeps track of all major updates on DCU projects, shared a brief set video on X from the Man of Tomorrow. The movie is currently in production and will see David Corenswet returning as Kal-El (Superman) alongside Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

The newly surfaced set clip shows Superman completely thrashing Lex Luthor, who is knocked to the ground as the nearby crowd looks on. The video is not taken from a very close angle, so it’s difficult to figure out whether Corenswet and Hoult are featured or their body doubles.

Regardless, the scene makes it clear that Superman is furious with Lex, suggesting their partnership is not turning out well as far as the plot is concerned. In Man of Tomorrow, the two will be forced to set aside their differences and team up to fight against a far greater threat, Brainiac.

From this perspective, Superman may be under Brainiac’s control in this very moment. However, nothing can be confirmed until the movie actually releases.

Another thing to note is that Lex is seen in his new suit in the video, which has been teased a lot. Director Gunn recently gave a clear look at the suit in an Instagram post, and he also confirmed that the warsuit for Lex will be “100% practical” instead of relying on CG. He made it clear that actor Hoult has been able to “move incredibly well” in the armor.

Man of Tomorrow movie comes out in theaters on July 9, 2027. It’s part of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
