Animal Farm sets digital streaming release date
Animal Farm, the new animated film by Andy Serkis featuring the voices of Kieran Culkin, Seth Rogen, and Iman Vellani, has set a digital streaming date. The film will be coming to Digital and VOD platforms on May 26th, 2026 (via WhenToStream).
Animal Farm was released in theaters on May 1, 2026, to negative reviews. The film holds a paltry 27% on Rotten Tomatoes, with 62 reviews. The popcornmeter from audience reviews is higher, though only at 53%. However, the negative press didn’t stop the film’s marketing team from using it in a brilliant marketing stunt. As the name suggests, Animal Farm is loosely based on George Orwell’s dystopian novel.

Besides Culkin and Vellani, Animal Farm features the voices of Seth Rogen, Glenn Close, Woody Harrelson, Steve Buscemi, Jim Parsons, Kathleen Turner, and more. However, the star-studded cast didn’t help the film’s box office prospects. The film ended up making only $5.6 million at the global box office.
Culkin has appeared in projects like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, and Succession. The actor won the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the 2025 Oscars for playing Benji Kaplan in A Real Pain.
“From visionary director Andy Serkis, and featuring the voices of Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Glenn Close, and Woody Harrelson, comes a satirical allegory of revolution and power,” reads the movie’s synopsis. “Animal Farm traces how a movement for equality is systematically corrupted. As the pigs consolidate control, truth is erased, dissent is crushed, and the farm descends into a ruthless dictatorship—fulfilling Orwell’s warning about the dangers of communism.”
