Iman Vellani Drops a Truth Bomb on Marvel’s Young Avengers Project
Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani has given a new update on the status of a Young Avengers project. A project in the vein of Young Avengers was teased at the end of The Marvels. However, Marvel Studios has yet to announce an official project for the young team.
Iman Vellani answers whether a Young Avengers or Champions show will happen
Speaking to the Revenge of Podcast, Vellani shared that she can’t comment on when or where Ms. Marvel will appear in the MCU again. However, when asked whether the Young Avengers tease from The Marvels will come to fruition, Vellani offered a cryptic tease.
“I will say I’m personally more of a Champions fan than Young Avengers,” she said. “I think those story lines are way more relevant. But also, none of us is going to be young by the time they get around.”
Rumors of the project morphing into a ‘Champions’ series have been making the rounds for some time now. However, Marvel has not confirmed anything regarding the same. Vellani does have a good point, as most of the rumored Champions cast are well into their 20s by now. By the time a Young Avengers project comes out, it’s likely that some of the actors will be in their 30s, including new potential recruits.
The closest teases fans got to a Young Avengers team-up were in the allegedly leaked concept art from the upcoming Avengers films. One of the pieces showed Wong talking to Star-Lord in a bar, surrounded by Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, Speed, and Wiccan.
One of The Marvels’ post-credits scenes seemingly set up Avengers: Doomsday, with Kelsey Grammer’s Beast appearing in a cameo in the MCU. Neither Vellani, Brie Larson, nor Teyonah Parris has been confirmed to appear in this year’s Avengers: Doomsday. However, recently discovered art from Doomsday may point to one of the Marvels making an appearance.
