Sebastian Stan just satisfyingly revealed some details about his mysterious Batman 2 role. The actor discussed his upcoming DC debut and what fans can expect from his take on the iconic character.

Sebastian Stan talks about his role in The Batman 2

Sebastian Stan recently spoke about his upcoming role in The Batman 2 during the Cannes Film Festival, Deadline reports.

Stan confirmed he will play Harvey Dent in director Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated sequel this summer. He plans to begin shooting the film in London over the coming months. The actor described his excitement about joining the DC franchise after spending several years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I’m excited, I’m nervous, and trying to keep surprising myself,” Stan said about taking on the role. He also noted he will play “many roles in this one.” The comment directly references Dent’s dramatic transformation into the notorious villain Two-Face throughout the film.

Harvey Dent starts as Gotham’s dedicated crime-fighting District Attorney before his eventual dark transformation. The character descends into madness after underworld figure Sal “Boss” Maroni hurls acid in his face. The brutal attack scars the left side of his face, leading him to adopt the Two-Face moniker.

Stan also discussed working closely with the hair and makeup teams, preparing for the role. The teams have already devised how his character’s disfigurement will look on screen. He called the collaborative process part of the challenge of keeping himself surprised creatively.

This project marks his first foray into Warner Bros.’ Batman DC world after mastering the MCU. Stan spoke at Cannes while promoting Cristian Mungiu’s Palme d’Or-winning film Fjord. He appears almost unrecognizable in that film with his hair shaved down to his scalp.

The actor previously earned a Best Actor Oscar nomination for portraying a young Donald Trump in The Apprentice. Stan has built a strong reputation for choosing diverse and challenging roles across major franchises. He continues to balance big studio blockbuster projects with smaller, socially conscious independent films throughout his career.

Fans can expect The Batman 2 to begin production this summer in London.
