Mortal Kombat 2 writer Jeremy Slater has addressed the possibility of working within DC Studios’ growing cinematic universe, revealing that he remains open to collaborating with James Gunn and Peter Safran on future projects.
During a recent interview, Slater discussed his working relationship with DC Studios co-head James Gunn, with whom he shares a story credit on the upcoming movie Coyote vs. Acme. While speaking about Gunn and Peter Safran, Slater praised the studio’s leadership. He also hinted that discussions about potential projects have already taken place behind the scenes.
Slater told Movie Web, “James is very aware of which projects they are. Look, I am on pretty strict NDAs on all of that stuff.” He also added, “What I can say is that I am a huge fan of James and Peter Safran, both as human beings and as creatives. I love them both quite a bit. I love what they are building over there.”
Although Slater did not reveal anything specific, he suggested that Gunn and Safran know which characters and stories he would personally like to explore within the DC Universe. “They know who I love over there and what I would be a part of. If the stars align, I hopefully will get to do some fun stuff. But I really can’t announce anything until it’s real,” he stated.
The writer also made it clear that he would be willing to contribute in whatever way the studio may need. He said. “I know some of what’s coming next, and it’s incredibly exciting. They know I am a phone call away on everything.”
