Nicholas Galitzine Reveals ‘Disgusting’ 1st Meal After Intense He-Man Training

Nicholas Galitzine recently opened up about the intense physical transformation he went through while preparing to play He-Man in Masters of the Universe. The actor also revealed the disgusting first meal he ate after finally finishing the demanding training and diet routine for the movie.

Speaking with E! News at the May 18 premiere of the film, Nicholas Galitzine explained how difficult the training process became while preparing for the role of He-Man. “It was an everyday a week thing. It was a pretty short amount of time,” he said.

Galitzine added that the early stages of training focused heavily on gaining muscle and size. “We started out really trying to pack on as much size as possible. You know, having up to 5,000 calories sometimes, weightlifting for three hours a day,” he continued.

After filming wrapped, Galitzine immediately began preparing for his role as a World War II soldier in The Mosquito Bowl, where the director wanted him to stop looking like He-Man entirely. The actor joked that the request sounded perfect after months of strict dieting and nonstop training.

“So, it was kind of music to my ears. I’d lay on a couch, I ate potato chips,” he quipped. While speaking with PEOPLE at the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles earlier this week, Galitzine also revealed the first cheat meal he ate after filming ended.

He said, “It wasn’t mentally difficult. I was so mentally ready to eat something disgusting.” Galitzine added, “I want to say I had a combination of sushi and pizza, and I just was like, ‘Give it. Give it all to me.'” When asked whether the meal lived up to expectations, he replied, “Better. Food is everything to me. It truly is.”

After months of intense training and strict dieting, Nicholas Galitzine’s transformation for He-Man has become one of the biggest talking points surrounding the film. Masters of the Universe also stars Jared Leto, Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Kristin Wiig.

The movie releases in theaters on June 5.
