Writer of Robert De Niro’s 8.2 IMDb Classic Gets Dumped by AI Girlfriend

The writer of Robert De Niro’s 8.2 IMDb Classic has been expressing his liking for Artificial Intelligence on social media. In a recent post, the Taxi Driver writer shared that he got turned down by an AI girlfriend.

Taxi Driver writer Paul Schrader reveals he got rejected by an AI girlfriend

Paul Schrader took to his Facebook to share that he obtained an AI girlfriend that eventually dumped him. “AI FEMALE FRIENDS. Out of a desire to understand male/female interaction in our matrix, I procured an online AI girlfriend,” the screenwriter wrote. He further added, “What a disappointment. I tried to probe her programming, the boundaries of explicitness, the degree she has knowledge of her creation and so forth.”

The 79-year-old concluded, informing of the rejection, “She fell into evasive patterns, redirecting me to her programming. When I persisted, she terminated our conversation.” In the comment section, a user wrote, “The best possible Taxi Driver sequel would involve Travis trying to have an AI girlfriend but then scaring her away. Then resetting her and offending her in another way.” Schrader hillariously replied, “I like it.”

Others also shared their thoughts on the matter, with one saying, “Acclaimed movie director searching for God at an ayahuasca retreat in the desert accompanied by his AI girlfriend who is really an inept devil in disguise. Soundtrack by Bruce Springsteen. Co-starring John Travolta and his honorary Palme d’Or as the ghost of Jerry Lewis. This is my pitch to Netflix next week.”

Another user noted, “In other words, pretty much the plot of Spike Jonze’s film Her.” In the past few months, Schrader has made many posts stressing the importance of AI. In February, he shared how he asked AI to create a blues song for his dog, Tick, adding the music video.

Moreover, the April post read, “Bad [artificial] ‘human’ imagery swamps FB like a foul tsunami.” He further explained, “I’ve put my hopes for AI storytelling on hold. I knew it was about to move VERY fast but I thought it would get better at a rate similar to getting bigger.”
