New Jason Statham & Guy Ritchie Movie Gets Best Release Update After 10 Years

Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie finally received a major update on one of their longest-developing collaborations. After spending years in development, the new action thriller recently reached an important milestone behind the scenes.

Jason Statham’s Viva La Madness wraps up filming

According to Collider, Guy Ritchie confirmed that Viva La Madness completed filming roughly one month ago. The action thriller reunites Ritchie with Jason Statham after a decade-long development process. Ritchie said, “Jason and I have been trying to make that for about 10 years or more, so it was a catharsis making it.” He also confirmed the project recently entered the editing stage.

The film adapts the novel Viva La Madness and continues Ritchie’s return to crime-focused storytelling. During the interview, Ritchie described the production as “great fun” and connected its tone directly to the source material. He said, “It’s based on the book, and so for anyone familiar with the book, it’s a great, fun book.” Ritchie added, “The clue’s in the title, in Viva la Madness.”

Ritchie did not confirm a release date for Viva La Madness, but he described the early editing process positively. He said the production wrapped recently and noted that he “had a wonderful time making it” alongside Statham.

Ritchie discussed the update while promoting In the Grey, his new action thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Eiza González, and Henry Cavill. He explained that In the Grey focuses on consequences and survival inside a criminal underworld. Ritchie stated, “In our world, cause and effect, and price and product, have deliberately been separated.” He added, “In order to be in that world, you have to be smart, because if you’re not, you die.”

The filmmaker also addressed possible returns to earlier franchises, including RocknRolla and Sherlock Holmes. Ritchie said he would “love to” revisit both properties if schedules align. Speaking about another Sherlock Holmes installment with Robert Downey Jr., Ritchie stated, “I adore Downey, and I adored making those two movies.”
