Release Date Set for Brad Pitt’s New Thriller From Suicide Squad Director

Paramount Pictures has announced the release date for an upcoming survival thriller that reunites Brad Pitt with director David Ayer. The announcement confirms the movie will come to theatres in late autumn amid a competitive slate.

Brad Pitt’s Heart of the Beast sets September release date

Oscar-winning actor Brad Pitt’s Heart of the Beast has a release date of September 25. Cameron Alexander wrote the screenplay, which follows a former Army Special Forces Soldier and his retired combat dog as they battle for survival after a plane crash deep in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness.

The film will open against Forgotten Island, a DreamWorks title starring Dave Franco and Jenny Slate, and a re-release of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.

Pitt stars alongside J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. The trailer screened at CinemaCon last month gave a sneak peek at the relationship between Pitt’s character and his dog. “I’m gonna get you home,” Pitt says to the animal after the crash. “We’re just going to have to do this the hard way.” The trailer also showed a river crossing sequence in which Pitt’s attempt to prevent the dog from falling leads to him tumbling into the water, followed by encounters with several wild animals.

Heart of the Beast marks the first collaboration between Brad Pitt and David Ayer since 2014, when they made the World War II drama Fury. Since then, Ayer’s credits have included the Jason Statham action movie A Working Man, The Beekeeper, Suicide Squad, and Bright. Meanwhile, Pitt most recently starred in Joseph Kosinski’s F1, an Oscar-nominated racing drama that co-starred Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, and Javier Bardem. His other recent work includes Wolfs with George Clooney and Damien Chazelle’s Babylon.

Producers on the project include Olivia Hamilton, Marty Bowen, Ayer, and Pitt, while executive producers include Damien Chazelle, Scott Lumpkin, Cameron Alexander, Chris Long, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, Andrew Lary, Sophie Cassidy, and Zack Conroy.

As of now, Heart of the Beast’s official trailer is yet to be released.
