Jean-Claude Van Damme Stars in WWII Action Movie, Details Revealed
He may be gearing up to take down opponents once again in the Bloodsport remake, but martial arts star Jean-Claude Van Damme has more projects in line. The veteran actor has now joined the cast of an upcoming WWII movie, helmed by Steven Luke.
Jean-Claude Van Damme to portray a World War II submarine captain in Raid Pacific
Jean-Claude Van Damme is set to star in the World War II movie, Raid Pacific, from Dean Bloxom and Deano Prods. The actor will play submarine captain William Pierce, reports Variety, in the wartime thriller film based on true events, which is set in the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attack.
Raid Pacific’s story shows Pierce as a decorated U.S.-French submarine commander tasked with a mission, which is to transport a small unit of Marine raiders deep into waters controlled by the enemy. Their objective is to destroy a Japanese outpost, one that could change the balance of the war. Details on the movie’s additional cast members will be revealed in the coming months.
Bloxom, Luke, and Andre Relis are producing the film. “Raid Pacific is a story of resilience, sacrifice, and leadership under extreme pressure,” said Relis. Luke added, “Raid Pacific is exactly the kind of story I’m drawn to — grounded in real history, but driven by deeply human stakes.”
Moreover, Boxom said, “I’m excited to connect audiences with this intense, immersive journey beneath the surface of the Pacific.”
As for Van Damme, he was most recently seen in The Gardener last year. Before that, he featured in several other films, including Darkness of Man and Kill ‘Em All 2. He’s got another movie lined up, titled What’s My Name?, which is currently in its pre-production stage.
Raid Pacific is yet to receive a release date window.
