Benedict Cumberbatch Gets in a Heated Clash With Cyclist: ‘You Verbally Abused Me’
Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch was caught in a heated altercation with a masked cyclist after the MCU actor allegedly ran a red light.
The video of the altercation has since gone viral across social media platforms. Cumberbatch seemingly denied running multiple red lights in the video, while the masked cyclist remained convinced that the actor was at fault.

Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch was cycling near King’s Cross station on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, when he was confronted by a masked man for allegedly running a red light. Cumberbatch could be seen abandoning his bike and approaching the masked cyclist for the confrontation.
“You’re deluded, you’re lying,” the unidentified cyclist told Cumberbatch. “I was behind you the entire time” (via Page Six).
Cumberbatch accused the cyclist of “verbally” abusing him. The masked cyclist responded, “Oh no, I verbally abused the guy who repeatedly broke the law.” During the confrontation, Cumberbatch admitted to running the red light once.
The altercation between Cumberbatch and the unidentified cyclist reportedly lasted around 10 minutes. The pair allegedly blocked the bike lane while arguing during the exchange.
After this jarring incident, the Marvel star took time to pose for photos with fans. “Benedict still managed to charm everyone watching even though he was having a meltdown,” an eyewitness told Page Six. “They went at each other about five times.”
The eyewitness also claimed that the masked man followed Cumberbatch until he stopped. “The masked guy was obviously some kind of vigilante. He was really taken aback when he saw it was Benedict Cumberbatch, but he doubled down on his rage,” the eyewitness added. “I don’t condone dangerous driving, but for this guy to follow him and cause an incident like this was worse than Benedict slowly cutting that light.”
