Anne Hathaway & Dakota Johnson Steamy Thriller Movie Verity Gets Eerie Poster

Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson will headline an upcoming steamy psychological thriller movie, Verity, based on Colleen Hoover’s New York Times best-selling novel of the same name. After releasing its first teaser trailer a few days back, Verity has now received an official poster, which is eerie and dark while being captivating.

What else do we know about the new Verity movie?

Verity is being helmed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, The Idea of You). He will direct from a screenplay written by Nick Antosca.

According to the film’s official synopsis, “this seductive, psychological thriller follows renowned author Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer who relocates to the remote Crawford estate to ghostwrite for Verity. After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity’s chilling autobiographical notes, she wrestles with the disturbing and twisted confessions about Verity’s husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett), and finds it hard to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession.”

Antosca and Showalter are also producing the movie alongside Alex Hedlund, Stacey Sher, Jordana Mollick, Anne Hathaway, and Colleen Hoover. Moreover, Kerry Orent, Dakota Johnson, and Lauren Levine are serving as executive producers.

Apart from Hathaway, Johnson, and Harnett, Verity also features Ismael Cruz Córdova, Brady Wagner, Irina Dvorovenko, K.K. Moggie, Michael Abbott Jr., and Alex Cooper.

Before this film, Hathaway is set to appear on the big screen in Christopher Nolan’s epic adventure The Odyssey. The Oscar winner is portraying the role of Penelope (wife of Odysseus and Queen of Ithaca). The awaited movie will release on July 17, 2026. Meanwhile, the actress recently saw another one of her movies hitting theaters. A sequel to her 2006 classic The Devil Wears Prada was released last week.

As for Johnson, the Madame Web star was last seen in movies like Splitsville and Materialists in 2025.

Verity is set to hit theaters on October 2, 2026.
