Angourie Rice’s New Comedy Movie Finding Emily Gets Hilarious Trailer

Focus Features has shared the official trailer for Finding Emily, the upcoming romantic comedy starring Angourie Rice (Senior Year, Mean Girls).

The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 28, 2026, pitting it directly against John Cena’s Coyote vs. Acme, Idiots, The Dog Stars, and Colony at the box office. It will also debut in the same month as high-profile films like One Night Only, The End of Oak Street, Mutiny, and Insidious: Out of the Further.

What do we know about Finding Emily?

“When a lovesick musician is given the wrong number for his dream girl, he teams up with a driven psychology student to find her. Together, they spark a hilarious campus-wide frenzy that tests their own hearts and ambitions along the way,” reads the synopsis.

Finding Emily is directed by Alicia MacDonald, with Rachel Hirons writing the screenplay. This marks MacDonald’s directorial debut movie. The ensemble cast includes Rice as Sami, Spike Fearn as Owen, Minnie Driver as Dean, Ella Maisy Purvis as Meg, Yali Topol Margalith as Emily Palmer, Kat Ronney as Emily Thewlis, Timothy Innes as Tristan, Nadia Parkes as Laura Lewis, and more.

The coming-of-age romcom is produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Olivier Kaempfer, with Cecilia Frugiuele and Angela Moneke set as executive producers. The creative team consists of cinematographer Rachel Clark, editor Phil Hignett, composer Morgan Kibby, production designer Bobbie Cousins, and costume designer Sara Hassan. It is a production by Working Title and Parkville Pictures.
