Alan Ritchson & Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Holiday Heist Film Gets Release Date & 1st Look
Prime Video, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Alan Ritchson revealed when audiences can expect their latest holiday venture. The streaming platform shared the first glimpse at the upcoming comedy alongside its premiere date during a major presentation.
Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Santa in Alan Ritchson’s The Man with the Bag
Prime Video has announced a December 2 release date for The Man with the Bag. The holiday action comedy stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Santa Claus alongside Alan Ritchson. Amazon MGM Studios shared the first-look images during its upfront presentation in New York.
The film follows Santa after someone steals his magic bag of presents. He then turns to his naughty list and recruits Vance, a thief played by Ritchson. Together with Vance’s daughter, Santa, and a group of misfits, they attempt a daring heist to save Christmas.
Adam Shankman directs the feature from a screenplay by Allan Rice. Shankman previously helmed Hairspray and Disenchanted for Disney. The producers include Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Reg Tigerman, Dan Spilo, and Ritchson himself. Grey Matter Productions serves as the production company behind the project.
The ensemble cast also features Awkwafina, Michael Cyril Creighton, Liza Koshy, and Kyle Mooney. Jane Krakowski and Ken Jeong round out the supporting lineup. Berkeley James also stars in the film alongside the ensemble. John Debney composed the score after previously collaborating with Shankman on The Pacifier.
The production filmed across Manhattan, New York in late 2024. Crews captured Schwarzenegger and Ritchson on location in December of that year. Awkwafina and additional cast members joined the project in January 2025.
The film carries a PG rating and runs for 111 minutes. The Man with the Bag marks Schwarzenegger’s return to the holiday comedy genre. Ritchson continues to expand beyond his breakout role in Prime Video’s Reacher series.
The film will premiere globally on Prime Video on December 2, 2026.
