James Cameron’s ‘Insane’ Billie Eilish Movie Pitch Revealed by ‘Bad Guy’ Singer
Billie Eilish reflected on how working with James Cameron on the concert film, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), which they both directed, came to fruition. She mainly credited her mother, Maggie Baird, who received a pitch from Cameron as she’s friends with his wife, to encourage her to make the concert in 3D. She found the idea to be pretty good, saying yes to it immediately, and then working with Cameron to make it come to life.

In a conversation with PEOPLE, Eilish opened up on how the idea of her Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour 3D concert film, set to release on May 8 in theaters, popped up. She revealed that Cameron wrote an email to her mother, who is a friend or colleague of his wife.
She mentioned that he had a full idea ready, adding, “He was like, ‘Why hasn’t anybody filmed Billie’s concert in 3D? Can we? Can I?’” He encouraged her to collaborate and make it happen together. She found the idea to be “insane” and was thankful to him for presenting this pitch to her.
The “Bad Guy” singer said, “Where did that come from, how did he think of it? I have no idea, but thank God he did. That’s the story. We got on the phone and we made it happen.” Eilish claimed that she didn’t hesitate to approve the pitch and said yes immediately.
As co-director, she also got the opportunity to work closely with Cameron and witness his “ambition and work ethic.” Praising the Titanic director, she said, “Watching him in action is really inspiring because he has so much energy and is just ready to do whatever it takes to get the shot.” The concert movie will feature Eilish’s performances of her hit tracks from her sold-out world tour, along with glimpses of her interactions with fans.
