Fans think Mr. Freeze will be The Batman 2’s villain
Fans have flooded social media with Mr. Freeze speculation after The Batman Part 2 revealed its winter setting. Director Matt Reeves shared the first camera test image on X, showing the Batmobile with the caption “#SnowTires.” He confirmed active production when a fan asked directly, replying, “Sure is!” on the platform.
Reeves also posted a behind-the-scenes photo from a monitor playback session on set. He captioned that image “Just over here having a little fun…” while showing camera equipment and footage. The snowy Gotham backdrop immediately triggered widespread villain theories across social media.
Multiple users reacted to the winter setting with strong Mr. Freeze predictions. One user wrote, “SNOW??? MR. FREEZE INCOMING?!” after seeing the camera test footage.
Another posted “1 billion Mr Freeze speculation posts incoming” in response to the winter confirmation.
One fan account proposed Mads Mikkelsen for the role of Victor Fries. Another user directly addressed Reeves, writing, “Snowy Gotham? Reeves I know the perfect villain for this setup.” No actor has been cast as Mr. Freeze, and the production has not confirmed the character’s involvement.
Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne alongside Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon. Additionally, the sequel added Scarlett Johansson as Gilda Dent and Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent to its cast.
Andy Serkis reprises Alfred Pennyworth, while Barry Keoghan is expected to return as the Joker. Reeves co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin for the follow-up to the 2022 original.
The Batman Part 2 is set to open in theaters on October 1, 2027.
