Minions & Monsters Movie Gets Hilarious Final Trailer

Illumination and Universal Pictures have shared the final trailer for Minions & Monsters, the third prequel spin-off of the hit Despicable Me film franchise. The movie will have its world premiere at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival this June. It will then be followed by its theatrical release on July 1.

“The film introduces us to an entirely new tribe of Minions, who find themselves in Hollywood at the dawn of cinema. Our heroes are two brand-new Minions: James and Henry,” reads the synopsis. “This is the rambunctious, ridiculous, and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world, and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.”

The video highlights how the Minions unleashed chaos onto the sets of 1920 Hollywood, as one of them becomes interested in becoming a filmmaker. It features the lovable and messy characters trying lots of hilarious and dangerous ways to find the perfect monster to star in their very own movie. Their search leads them to summon an adorable talking green monster, whom they freed from a book.

Minions & Monsters is directed by Despicable Me filmmaker Pierre Coffin, who co-wrote the screenplay with Brian Lynch. The movie features the voices of Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Trey Parker, Bobby Moynihan, and Phil LaMarr. It is produced by Chris Meledandri and Bill Ryan, with Lynch serving as an executive producer.
