Eddie Redmayne & More Cast in The Bourne Identity Director’s Next Spy Movie
A new espionage thriller from the director of The Bourne Identity has found its leading stars, with Eddie Redmayne and others set to feature in the film. The project, which is based on a real-life intelligence operation, is being launched at the Cannes Film Festival market. Additional details about the film’s story, creative team, and production partners have also been revealed.
Eddie Redmayne to star with Miles Teller in Doug Liman’s next movie
Doug Liman has found the two leads for his next feature. Deadline reported Eddie Redmayne and Miles Teller are set to headline the upcoming espionage thriller Star One. The project is being introduced to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival market, where Black Bear is handling international sales, and CAA Media Finance is overseeing domestic rights.
The film is based on a true story and centers on two CIA agents with entirely different personalities who are forced into the same covert operation. Teller will play a “charismatic” and daring agent. Meanwhile, Eddie Redmayne will portray a far more rigid and strategic intelligence officer. Despite their opposing methods and personalities, the pair are assigned to work together on a classified mission. It requires them to travel across thousands of miles of hostile territory in secret.
Their objective involves the covert delivery of arms while navigating dangerous enemy-controlled areas. According to the synopsis, “This is the untold true story of the first intelligence star ever awarded for one of the most important yet least known missions in modern history.” The screenplay has been written by David Coggeshall.
The project comes shortly after Liman completed work on the AI thriller Bitcoin. P. J. van Sandwijk is producing the film alongside William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein. Star One brings together Storyteller Productions and Project X Entertainment.
At this stage, a production schedule and release date for the film have not yet been announced.
