LOTR’s Elijah Wood & Major DC Star Cast in Hulu’s Sci-Fi Hit
LOTR fame Elijah Wood and a major DC actor are officially joining the final season of Hulu’s sci-fi thriller series, adding another big twist to a show that already took a dramatic turn in Season 2. A new behind-the-scenes image shared by creator Dan Fogelman has now sparked fresh theories about where the story is heading next.
Paradise creator announces two new cast members for Season 3
Paradise creator Dan Fogelman recently revealed that Elijah Wood and Melissa Benoist have joined the cast for the show’s third and final season. He posted a set image on Instagram showing both actors filming what appears to be a scene set in space. Alongside the image, Fogelman teased fans with the caption, “S3. You have no idea where this is going.”
The series started as a mystery thriller inside an underground bunker after a catastrophic global event. Over time, though, the story shifted deeper into science fiction territory. Season 2 introduced Alex, an advanced AI quantum computer believed to hold the key to saving humanity. By the finale, Xavier Collins, played by Sterling K. Brown, was sent on a dangerous new mission tied to that technology after the bunker’s destruction.
The newly released image has fueled speculation that Season 3 could explore space travel, time-related twists, or even multiverse ideas. Fogelman has not shared details about Wood or Benoist’s characters yet, but the setting alone hints that the final season may expand the story in a major way.
Meanwhile, Wood joins the series while also preparing to return as Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. Benoist, meanwhile, remains widely recognized for starring in Supergirl and recently appeared in Netflix’s The Waterfront.
Several returning cast members are also expected back for the final run, including Sterling K. Brown, Sarah Shahi, Thomas Doherty, and Aliyah Mastin. Julianna Margulies was previously announced as another new addition. Seasons 1 and 2 of Paradise are currently streaming on Hulu.
