Scarlett Johansson Leads Ari Aster’s New A24 Movie, Title Revealed

Scarlett Johansson is adding to her extremely impressive upcoming resume, joining Ari Aster‘s next movie from A24, which has received an official title.

What is Ari Aster’s new movie called?

According to a new report from Deadline, Johansson will join Aster in his upcoming movie, which is titled Scapegoat. Much like his past films, Aster will write and direct the project, and reunite with A24, the studio that has released his past four films.

As of now, little is known about Scapegoat, but with Aster behind it, it’s fair to expect the plot will feature something completely unique. Aster’s most recent movie was the 2025 satirical neo-Western thriller Eddington, which focused largely on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Currently, no other information about the movie is available, so it’s unclear who else will be appearing in it. Deadline noted that Johansson was Aster’s “top choice” to star in the movie, though, and despite the busy schedule, it seems like Johansson is ready to work with the director.

For Johnasson, this adds yet another high-profile film to her upcoming slate of movies. She most recently starred in 2025’s Jurassic World Rebirth, and will have a busy 2026 and 2027 coming up. She’s set to star in the upcoming James Gray crime drama Paper Tiger and Brad Bird’s neo-noir sci-fi mystery movie Ray Gunn in 2026.

After that, she’ll star in Mike Flanagan’s upcoming The Exorcist movie in 2027, as well as appear in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II, of which little is known of either project.
