Brendan Fraser’s Pressure Gets Its First Box Office Predictions

The upcoming WWII film Pressure starring Brendan Fraser has received a couple of early box office predictions. The movie features the 57-year-old actor in the role of General Dwight D. Eisenhower who needs to make a crucial decision on the date of D-Day as he receives conflicting information from his weather team and meteorologist James Stagg (Andrew Scott). Pressure is adapted from a 2014 play of the same name written by David Haig, who played Stagg on stage, and inspired by the real-life events that led up to the critical Allied operation on the beaches of Normandy. The Focus Features film hopes to provide a mature, war-centric option amid a late May / early June theatrical calendar heavily populated by horror flicks and family-friendly blockbusters. Directed by Anthony Maras and produced by Working Title Films, Pressure is set to storm US theaters on May 29, 2026.

How much is Pressure expected to earn in its domestic opener?

Brendan Fraser’s Pressure is predicted to earn somewhere in the range of $3.5 million and $7 million in its domestic opener in the US and Canada from May 29 to May 31, 2026.

This early projection is based on an analysis from BoxOfficeTheory, which provides several comparisons to other movies releasing on the same day as Pressure. This includes the A24 horror film Backrooms, which is expected to be box office hit and earn between $14.5 million and $27 million in its domestic opener; and Nate Bargatze’s family-friendly comedy The Breadwinner, which is predicted to make an even higher $20 million to $29 million over the same time period. That could be some tough competition for Pressure despite them being in separate genres.

The report believes that Pressure could stand out against other commercial movies releasing around the same time, particularly Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu coming out on May 22 and Scary Movie releasing on June 5. It also notes that Pressure follows the success of a pair of other Focus Features films, Conclave and Last Breath. At the time of writing, it’s unclear what the production budget for Pressure is, so it’s tough to say whether this early projection is good or bad news.

A long-range forecast from the r/boxoffice Reddit is encouraged by Pressure’s potential audience from war movie fans and the fact that the decision behind D-Day is an important event that hasn’t been portrayed too much on the silver screen. It contrasts the movie to the smaller 2025 film WWII Nuremberg, which earned $3.8 million in its domestic opener on its path toward a $56 million worldwide total. Much of that film’s success came overseas, where it accumulated $42 million (74% of the total), so it’s possible that Pressure will similarly see more success in Europe given the significance of D-Day in its history.

A separate report on Reddit posted a week after provides an early box office prediction for Pressure getting $4.6 million in its opening weekend, $14.5 million for its domestic run, and $37.6 million for its worldwide total.

On the downside, the analysis points out that the film focuses more on the tense decision-making that led up to D-Day rather than the action sequences of the actual invasion, though there are a few shots in the movie’s February trailer that shows troops about to storm the beachfront.

Fraser has been seen getting back into his iconic role of Rick O’Connell in the Mummy series as he prepares to reprise the character in the upcoming Mummy 4. The movie was initially set to release on May 19, 2028, but a new report says that the long-awaited sequel has been moved up almost a full year to October 15, 2027.
