Steven Spielberg returns to familiar sci-fi territory with his upcoming film Disclosure Day, set for a theatrical release this summer. Following an earlier teaser that hinted at the film’s extraterrestrial themes, newly released images now offer a clearer glimpse at a mysterious alien spacecraft making its way toward Earth.
The stills capture several dramatic moments in the film. One of the pictures depicts a tense moment as a UFO hovers overhead while crowds gather below. The newly unveiled material builds on the earlier footage that briefly teases the presence of aliens.
Disclosure Day centers on Daniel Kellner, a cybersecurity specialist played by Josh O’Connor. The character is introduced as someone on the run, navigating a rapidly escalating situation while pushing for the truth to be made public. In the film’s trailer, he calls for “full disclosure to the whole world.” Emily Blunt co-stars in the film, though details surrounding her role remain under wraps.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, O’Connor said the script immediately stood out to him due to its resemblance to elements seen in Spielberg’s earlier films. “Part of the reason I loved the script so much when I first read it is that I felt like I recognized some of his earlier work. And so hopefully that comes across,” he said.
The film marks Spielberg’s return to large-scale science fiction and features a supporting cast that includes Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, Elizabeth Marvel, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Michael Gaston.
Disclosure Day is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 12, 2026.
