The Devil Wears Prada 2 Gets a Verdict From Christopher Nolan
When The Devil Wears Prada 2 was confirmed in 2024, the fashion world held its breath. Twenty years after Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs walked away from Miranda Priestly’s office in stilettos and clarity, the sequel returns to Runway magazine with Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton as a rival amid digital upheaval. Now, with the film in theaters as of May 1, 2026, one of cinema’s most detail-driven voices, Christopher Nolan, has weighed in.
Christopher Nolan talks about Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and The Devil Wears Prada 2
Christopher Nolan has offered his perspective on The Devil Wears Prada 2. He reflected on the performances of Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt as they reprise their iconic roles two decades later.
The Oppenheimer director recently appeared on the Monday episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In the interview, he spoke about collaborating with Tom Holland and shared his thoughts on Hathaway in the recently released sequel. He also drew an unexpected comparison between Homer, author of The Odyssey, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A veteran of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises, Anne Hathaway reunites with the director in The Odyssey as Penelope, Odysseus’ wife and queen of Ithaca. When asked about whether he had seen her newest film, The Devil Wears Prada 2, Nolan replied, “I watched it last night. It was fabulous. With Emily Blunt as well. Terrific.”
Later, Colbert noted that Holland, Hathaway, and The Odyssey co-star Robert Pattinson all have superhero blockbusters on their résumés. That led Nolan to compare the ancient Greek epic to today’s comic-book franchises.
Nolan noted that much of comic book culture, from Marvel to DC, traces back to Homer’s epics. He added that Homer’s true identity is unknown, making him the George Lucas of his era.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is already one of summer 2026’s most anticipated blockbusters. Matt Damon takes on Odysseus in a cast packed with A-listers. In addition to Holland, Hathaway, and Pattinson, the lineup includes Zendaya, Mia Goth, Jon Bernthal, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, and Benny Safdie.
