Tony Poster Reveals Dominic Sessa’s Anthony Bourdain, Trailer Release Date Set

Dominic Sessa, known for starring in The Holdovers and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, is playing Anthony Bourdain in a new biopic movie titled Tony. A24 has released the first poster for the movie and announced that the trailer will be released tomorrow.

What does the Tony poster look like, and when is the trailer being released?

The poster gives us our first glimpse of the actor in a chef’s apron, a scene similar to something you’d find on FX’s The Bear. Sessa is joined by fellow co-stars Emilia Jones, Leo Woodall, and Antonio Banderas.

Along with revealing the poster, A24 also announced that the film’s first trailer will be released online on May 5, 2026.

“I was – to be frank – a spoiled, miserable, narcissistic, self-destructive and thoughtless young lout, and badly in need of a good ass-kicking,” reads a quote from the poster, undoubtedly a self-deprecating phrase from Bourdain.

Tony is directed by Matt Johnson, who also co-wrote the script with Matthew Miller, Todd Bartels, and Lou Howe. Johnson is best known for creating Nirvana the Band the Show, along with helming 2023’s Blackberry, both projects tracing the impact of influential people on the face of pop culture and business.

Tony will follow a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain working in a local restaurant in Provincetown, Mass. Set in 1976, the film will focus on a pivotal year in the world-renowned chef’s life.

The film takes inspiration from Bourdain’s best-selling memoir Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly.

“Those two chapters of Kitchen Confidential read like ‘Genesis’ to me,” said Johnson in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “So little happens, but the margins are packed. It meant the cast, and I could investigate this man’s origin together, knowing only where he would end up 20 years later.”

“Bourdain never wanted to feel like the smartest guy in the room. He had an unwavering desire to learn as much as he could from the world and the people around him,” said Sessa. “The rules by which he lived his life were the result of feeling a responsibility towards the people that surrounded him in the kitchen at a young age, as well as messing things up…a lot.”

Tony is set to release in theaters sometime in the summer of 2026.
