Dave Franco Joins Talk to Me Star’s Wild Alien Movie
Dave Franco, known for Now You See Me, has joined the cast of a new alien movie called Soon You Will Be Gone and Possibly Eaten. He’ll star alongside Talk to Me and Babygirl actress Sophie Wilde, together playing a young couple whose wedding is crashed by aliens.
What do we know about the new Dave Franco alien movie?
Soon You Will Be Gone and Possibly Eaten is being directed by Egor Abramenko, who also helmed A24’s upcoming horror flick Altar and the Russian sci-fi Sputnik. As reported by Deadline, the thriller’s plot follows a “Rob and Sabile, a young engaged couple, who head to a secluded mountain resort to take their vows and step into the new chapter of their shared lives. What was planned as a joyous wedding attended by family members takes a different turn when unexpected guests crash the ceremony.”
Written by Luke Piotrowski and Ben Collins, known for penning Hulu’s 2022 reimagining of Hellraiser, the film is based on a short story by Nick Antosca, the creator of Apple TV’s upcoming Cape Fear series, and will enter production later in 2026.
“I was blown away by Nick Antosca’s short story,” said Abramenko about the upcoming film. “From the get-go, it was a very fresh take on the alien genre, which is a really rare thing.”
After appearing as cardistry and heist expert Jack Wilder in last year’s Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, fans will be interested to see Franco tap into a more serious role. The actor’s last such effort in 2025’s Together was universally acclaimed, which proved that the actor can deliver across a variety of genres outside of comedies.
Franco will, of course, continue working in the comedy genre. The actor’s upcoming projects include a wild comedy with O’Shea Jackson Jr., releasing later this year, while a fourth Now You See Me movie is also in development.
Franco’s co-star Sophie Wilde has had her fair share of success, starting with her breakout role in 2022’s Talk to Me, followed by noteworthy appearances in Bring Her Back and Babygirl. While the actor is unsure about returning in Talk to Me 2, fans can look forward to her expanding profile in the Tom Cruise movie Digger, along with the upcoming film adaptation of Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs franchise.
Soon You Will Be Gone and Possibly Eaten doesn’t have a release date yet, but with production beginning this year, expect the film to hit theaters sometime in 2027.
