What Will Smith movie is now on Hulu?
As of today, 20th Century Studios’ iconic sci-fi movie I, Robot is now officially available to stream on Hulu. In the film, Smith plays a detective in Chicago in 2035 tasked to investigate the mysterious death of a modern robotics inventor. The movie also starred Bridget Moynahan as Dr. Susan Calvin, Bruce Greenwood as Lawrence Robertson, James Cromwell as Dr. Alfred Lanning, Chi McBride as Lt. John Bergin, Shia LaBeouf as Farber, and Ian Tudyk as Sonny.
“While investigating the apparent suicide of a renowned robot designer, a robo-phobic police detective teams with a robo-psychologist and a prototype robot with human emotions to thwart a worldwide robot revolution designed to overthrow human rule,” reads the movie’s official synopsis.
I, Robot was directed by Alex Proyas, with Jeff Vintar and Akiva Goldsman writing the screenplay. It was named after Foundation author Isaac Asimov’s 1950 short story collection. Even though it’s not a direct adaptation, the film still featured elements of Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics, a set of rules which Asimov introduced in his short story, “Runaround.” Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the movie was still a hit among moviegoers. It currently holds a Popcornmeter score of 70% on Rotten Tomatoes.
