Bryce Dallas Howard, Curry Barker and Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul kept things mysterious as the Jurassic World star officially joined the filmmaker’s increasingly buzzworthy supernatural horror project ahead of his highly anticipated theatrical debut.
Bryce Dallas Howard cast in Curry Barker’s supernatural horror movie
Bryce Dallas Howard has joined the cast of Anything But Ghosts, a supernatural horror film directed by Curry Barker, Deadline reported. Focus Features will release the project, which Barker co-wrote with his longtime collaborator Cooper Tomlinson. Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Spooky Pictures and Divide/Conquer are producing the film.
Howard joins a cast that includes Aaron Paul, Barker and Tomlinson, who also stars in the movie. The production wrapped filming earlier this month, though plot details remain under wraps. Jason Blum, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath serve as producers on the project.
Meanwhile, the casting news arrives ahead of the May 15 theatrical release of Barker’s Obsession. Focus Features picked up Obsession for over $10 million out of the Toronto Film Festival. Additionally, Barker also recently signed on to write and direct a reimagining of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for A24.
Beyond acting, Howard’s extensive filmography includes the Jurassic World franchise, Rocketman, The Help and her debut in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village. She has directed episodes across six seasons of Star Wars series including The Mandalorian, Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew. She also directed feature documentaries Dads for Apple TV and Pets for Disney+.
Notably, the project first attracted industry attention in September as it marked the first collaboration between Blum and Lee. Barker rose through the sketch comedy world and subsequently gained Hollywood attention with his $800 horror YouTube feature Milk & Serial. Image Nation and Barker and Tomlinson’s That’s a Bad Idea also produce, with Barker, Tomlinson and Image Nation’s Ben Ross serving as executive producers
