The Devil Wears Prada rises up on streaming ahead of sequel
The Devil Wears Prada, headlined by Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, holds top positions on three streaming platforms as of April 28, 2026. It is the #2 movie on HBO Max, sitting just below Timothée Chalamet’s Oscar-nominated sports drama, Marty Supreme. Furthermore, it is the #8 title overall, under DTF St. Louis (via FlixPatrol).
Meanwhile, it is the #3 film on Disney+, under Orangutan (#2) and The Devil Wears Prada 2: A Special Look (#1), and the #3 title overall. It is also the #1 movie on Disney+’s sister platform, Hulu, surpassing others on the top 10 list. Additionally, it is the #2 title overall on the streamer.
The movie originally premiered at the LA Film Festival on June 22, 2006, before hitting theaters across the United States eight days later on June 30. Following its release, it grossed roughly $326.7 million at the global box office.
David Frankel directed The Devil Wears Prada from Aline Brosh McKenna’s screenplay, while Wendy Fireman produced it. In addition to Hathaway and Streep, the film features Emily Blunt, Adrian Grenier, Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, Tracie Thoms, Rich Sommer, Daniel Sunjata, Rich Sommer, and David Marshall Grant, among others.
Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 book of the same name, the story is set in the high-stakes, cutthroat world of fashion. It follows Andrea Sachs, a recent journalism graduate who lands a job as the personal assistant of Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of New York City’s Runway Magazine.
The former soon finds herself at the mercy of the latter’s cruel and stringent behavior, struggling to keep up with her irrational demands. However, Sachs resolves to impress Priestly nonetheless, due to which she begins focusing on learning more about and embracing the fashion world and changes her simple outlook to a more sophisticated one.
