Jurassic Park’s Sam Neill Says He’s Cancer-Free After 5 Years in Health Update

Jurassic Park’s Sam Neill recently announced that he’s cancer-free after 5 years and disclosed his next professional plans. He reflected on his treatment, revealing that he opted for chemotherapy, which failed at a certain point. While he believed this could worsen health, he came across the last option: using cutting-edge technology to modify cells genetically. This treatment helped him fight cancer.

Sam Neill confirms that he’s now cancer-free, expresses interest in making another movie

In a conversation with  Australian network 7News, Neil shared an update on his cancer and the treatment he had been undergoing to eradicate it. He revealed that he had been living with a kind of lymphoma for about 5 years. He opted for chemotherapy, which didn’t work that effectively, but he believes it helped him stay alive. However, there came a day when the chemotherapy stopped working, and he didn’t have good feelings about his health. ” I was at a loss and it looked like I was on the way out, which wasn’t ideal obviously,” he said.

He revealed that CAR T-cell therapy was the only option left to cure his cancer and he underwent that treatment. “[We] turbocharge those cells to then be able to now recognise the myeloma, which was not visible to the immune system before and then jump on it and kill it,” haematologist Professor Miles Prince explained how the treatment works.

Neill revealed that he did a scan and has known that there’s no cancer in his body, describing the feeling to be “extraordinary.” He reflected that before this treatment saved his life, he was “standing on the edge of the cliff,” which he thinks was not a nice place to be. Revealing his professional plans now that he’s cancer-free, he added, “It’s time I did another movie.” Currently, he’s involved in three movie projects: The Fox, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, and The Last Resort.
