Charlize Theron Is Looking for Something ‘Specific’ in Love Life, Won’t ‘Live With Somebody’
Charlize Theron revealed that she doesn’t think she could settle down with someone in the same “house.” She clarified that she doesn’t mean her potential partner can’t be around; they can, but perhaps in a separate house “down the street.” She also shared the reasoning behind this perspective and remained open to the idea that it could change in the future. However, she is extremely firm about the specifics she looks for in a partner.
Charlize Theron isn’t sure she could live with somebody again
During a conversation on an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Theron revealed that she can’t live with somebody again. She’s aware that people might think that this outlook is a joke, but she really means it. She further expressed uncertainty about settling down. Clarifying her take that she doesn’t mean it in a bad way, she added, “I would love for you to be close. Like, buy the house down the street.”
Theron believes this feeling of not living together might stem from being used to having only her daughters around. She believes that these feelings could potentially change in the future when she has the home to herself. “But I’m looking for something very specific,” she added, referring to what kind of partner she’s aiming for. Theron has two adopted kids, August and Jackson (via Entertainment Weekly).
Earlier, in a conversation on Call Her Daddy, Theron revealed that while she is open to a long-term commitment, the label of marriage doesn’t fascinate her. She said, “I will tell you in all honesty and the work that I’ve done on myself, I think a lot of that also has to do with the fact that I have a tremendous fear of not being able to get out of something, and that’s, again, me just understanding me, right?”
Stressing on how marriage works legally and what she has planned for her future, she elaborated, “Obviously by California laws, after seven years, you’re in a f**king marriage, whether you walk down the aisle, sign a piece of paper, it’s 50-50, bitch. Let’s just be clear. My semantics is crazy, but if I were to find a relationship, I would think of it as something that I’m aiming for long term.” Theron has recently been promoting her Netflix movie, Apex, which was released on April 24, 2026.
